Bangladesh is an agricultural country. Agriculture has consistently been Bangladesh’s major sector for the longest time. Seventy five percent people lives in rural areas. Bangladesh is also an agro based country. The most of inhabitants directly or indirectly are involved in agricultural subsectors for their livelihood. Agriculture is of the production sector of the economy which comprises around 14% of GDP and 43% labour force are involved in agricultural sector.

Agriculture Sector and Rural Area There is paramount importance of agricultural sector and rural area in Bangladesh to meet its diverse development challenges. There is a direct link between the agricultural sector and rural area. Rural area is very important, because majority of the people of the country are living in rural and have a direct link between the rural development and the development of our national economy as well as rural statistics. On the other hand, the agriculture sector is the major contributor to sustain food, nutrition and livelihood security of the large population of Bangladesh to achieve self-self-sufficiency in food production, reduce rural poverty and foster sustainable economic development.

Around 50% of the population works in this industry, while 70% of people depend on agriculture for their living altogether.

Agriculture continues to assist GDP growth despite its many limitations by generating rural income and employment in agro-based sectors. Increased agricultural production can result in more revenue, which would allow for the growth of agro-supportive services. More steps should be taken in fostering agricultural entrepreneurship and strengthening agro-based companies. However, agro-based businesses are expanding rapidly. We need to improve the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex by uniting enterprises engaging in production, processing and sale of agricultural products. The aim is to develop recommendations on integration processes in the agricultural sector in order to improve the efficiency of the agricultural sector.

Accordingly we have started our integration in agriculture through “Freshponds”.
